Location: ONLINE ONLY

Instructor: Michele Deramo

Description:

We want our students to engage with one another and to grapple with challenging and controversial topics. But, are we prepared for when these challenging conversations become difficult?   The objectives of this session are threefold:

1. To practice applying community guidelines as tools for responding rather than reacting to difficult moments in the classroom;

2. To present practices for engaging (rather than avoiding) tension;

3. To provide a framework for analyzing difficult scenarios in order to apply the most inclusive response.

Recommended prerequisite: Fostering an Inclusive Classroom Environment
