Description:

Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 508) is a law that requires the federal government to provide access to its electronic and information technology, specifically the electronic and information technology that federal agencies develop, use, maintain, and procure. The law applies to various kinds of technology, including hardware, software, office equipment, and government web pages.

The goal of the information presented in this resource is to provide a methodology for testing digital content for conformance to Section 508, as revised in 2017. Information about the requirements of Section 508 relating to hardware is not part of this resource at this time.
