Description:

Effective communication is a fundamental skill that applies to almost everything we do. Think about all the ways you may communicate with people: face-to-face, on the phone, via e-mail, via websites, at meetings, professional events, and social gatherings. If you are interacting with a customer, it is your responsibility to understand their needs and make sure that you are understood, as well.

Some types of disabilities may result in communication challenges. For example, a person who is hard of hearing may not hear every word you say. Someone who is blind wouldn’t see your facial expressions. A person with a speech disability might have difficulty with pronunciation.

There are many tools and techniques available to overcome these challenges. With the right knowledge and strategies, you can skillfully facilitate a successful communication exchange.

This course will help you apply customized tools and strategies to ensure effective communication with individuals with disabilities.
