Course Description:
This course provides comprehensive trainings and information on Virginia Tech's procurement and purchasing processes, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to complete purchasing activities accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with university policies. Participants will explore the procurement lifecycle, including requestor, contract administration, purchasing cards, software procurement, catering, and surplus property best practices. Through practical guidance and system-specific instruction, learners will gain an understanding of HokieMart tools, approval processes, documentation requirements, internal controls, and the resources available to support responsible financial stewardship. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to confidently navigate procurement-related responsibilities while ensuring compliance with university requirements and promoting effective use of institutional resources.
Certificate Credits Available
Each module is self-paced, takes between 30 minutes to one hour to complete, and concludes with a quiz. Participants must achieve a score of 80% or higher on each quiz to successfully complete a module. This course consists of 8 modules, each worth one certificate credit toward the Fiscal Training and Development Program. Participants who complete all modules will earn a total of 8 credits.
