Course Description:
This course provides a foundational understanding of the Virginia Tech Foundation (VTF) and its role in supporting the university's mission through the management of private gifts and advancement resources. Participants will explore the history, purpose, and organizational structure of the Foundation while learning the policies, procedures, accounting practices, and stewardship principles that guide the management of Foundation funds. The course introduces the resources, tools, and reference materials available to support Foundation-related activities and highlights the roles of departmental, college, and Foundation personnel in ensuring responsible financial management and donor stewardship. Upon completion, learners will have the foundational knowledge needed to effectively manage Foundation funds and navigate Foundation processes.
Certificate Credit s Available
Each module is self-paced, takes between 30 minutes to one hour to complete, and concludes with a quiz. Participants must achieve a score of 80% or higher on each quiz to successfully complete a module. This course consists of one module, worth one certificate credit toward the Fiscal Training and Development Program. Participants who complete the module will earn a total of one credit.
