This course equips prospective and current Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Graduate Assistants (GAs) with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their important roles. Learners will explore the core responsibilities and benefits of serving as a TA or GA, as well as the challenges commonly encountered. The course provides practical guidance on identifying and applying for open positions (including effective email templates and standard application materials) as well as preparing for interviews. It also outlines strategies for thriving in a TA or GA role and presents a 6-step process for resolving conflicts with supervisors, students, or teammates.
