Description:

This course explores the ethical responsibilities that researchers must uphold throughout the research and publication process. Learners will review common forms of misconduct and examine foundational ethical guidelines such as the Belmont Report, the Nuremberg Code, and the Missenden Code. The course covers how to develop informed consent forms and addresses ethical considerations for each section of a peer-reviewed journal article. Participants will learn how to assess co-authorship eligibility, disclose conflicts of interest, and understand the ethical obligations of authors, peer-reviewers, and editorial boards. Strategies to avoid post-publication issues such as corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions are also covered.
