This course provides an overview of Open Science and its growing importance in enhancing transparency, accessibility, and reproducibility in research. Participants will learn the definition and historical development of the Open Science movement and explore the distinguishing features of its five major schools of thought. The course also highlights the benefits of Open Access publishing, while also equipping learners to recognize and avoid predatory publishers. Finally, learners will also examine how Open Registries contribute to improved research practices and will be guided through the process of obtaining an ORCID iD to support their scholarly identity.
