Description:

This course provides a strategic and practical guide for faculty planning to apply for promotion to Full Professor. Participants will explore the key distinctions between promotion to Associate Professor and promotion to Full Professor, including heightened expectations for sustained impact and leadership. The course helps learners navigate both formal institutional policies and the informal norms that often influence promotion decisions. Participants will develop systems to organize and document their achievements, including building a comprehensive digital portfolio with ongoing self-narrative entries. Guidance is provided on assembling a compelling promotion package that demonstrates impact across scholarship, teaching, service, and mentorship, as well as on soliciting constructive internal and external feedback prior to submission. Finally, the course addresses how to respond productively if promotion to Full Professor is not awarded.
