This course provides a step-by-step guide to writing effective academic book reviews for peer-reviewed journals. Learners will explore the core goals and benefits of publishing book reviews, identify key audiences for such reviews, and apply strategies for selecting a book and target journal with the best alignment. The course also examines how to structure the main sections of a successful book review, differentiate approaches for reviewing authored versus edited books, and avoid common writing mistakes. Participants will also learn how to solicit an academic book review opportunity from a peer-reviewed journal’s Editor-in-Chief.
