This course explores careers beyond academia and equips participants with the tools and strategies needed to successfully transition to industry. Learners will explore current career trends and key distinctions between academic and industry roles, while applying the Ikigai framework to clarify their career purpose. The course guides participants in identifying transferable skills across more than 75 fields, crafting a compelling transition narrative, and researching high-growth industries. Additional topics include how to manage conversations about industry careers with your graduate advisor, how to overcome Imposter Syndrome, and how to explore hybrid career paths that bridge both academia as well as industry.
