Description:
This course equips university faculty with the knowledge and tools needed to build effective mentorship and supervision practices across all academic levels. Learners will distinguish between mentorship and supervision, explore the benefits of each, and examine best practices for establishing supportive relationships with appropriate boundaries. The course addresses the distinct needs of undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and early-career faculty, while offering strategies for inclusive mentoring for individuals from underrecognized backgrounds. Participants will also learn to foster safe, equitable environments, track mentee progress through structured milestones, support career development, and navigate common ethical challenges. Guidance is provided on how to thoughtfully conclude mentoring and supervisory relationships.
