Description:

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the concepts of reliability and validity in scientific research. Participants will learn to distinguish between trait and method measurement error and explore how to assess various forms of reliability, including test-retest, inter-item, and inter-rater reliability, along with strategies to enhance measurement consistency. The course also explores the differences between internal and external validity, focusing on how to evaluate construct, content, and criterion validity through convergent, divergent, concurrent, and predictive methods. Finally, learners will compare population, ecological, temporal, and treatment variation validity to better understand how research findings can be generalized across settings and populations.
