Full course description
Term: Fall 2019
Date: November 8th, 2019
Time: 11:00am - 12:30pm
Location: Torgerson Hall 1100
Instructor: Michele Deramo.
Presented By: Inclusion & Diversity (ID)
Description:
You want to be an ally for your students of color, but you are not quite sure what that means. What if you offend someone or make an assumption that turns out to be wrong? Can you be an ally if you’re not an expert on race? This session is for faculty, particularly White faculty, who want to deeply consider the impacts and dynamics of race and ethnicity in the classroom. Participants will share experiences using a reflection rubric that explores reaction and response, with the goal of moving toward more effective, empowering engagements.
