Description:
Were you appointed as the Diversity Search Advocate for a faculty hire in your department? Did you complete the Search Charge training but still wonder how to fulfill your role? This session is designed to help you practice being an effective advocate for diversity when serving on a search committee. We will present the different ways that implicit bias is coded in search deliberations and offer language for intervening and redirecting. We also provide scenarios for thinking through and responding to typical situations that arise in search committees. Upon completion of the course, participants are added to a Community of Praxis listserv for sharing ideas, seeking feedback, and learning best practices.
