Description:
During this session, participants will learn about the key elements of digital accessibility. Digital accessibility can help us create the flexibility, portability, and availability we need to ensure that the widest variety of learners can both access and enjoy our content. While options like audio books, mobile devices, captions and PDF files may seem like a mere convenience, for some people they are key to actively participating in educational opportunities. This session will include what resources are available from Virginia Tech to create more accessible digital content. Participants will see several examples of materials (slide decks, digital documents and videos) shown in both an inaccessible and an accessible format to highlight the benefits of accessibility. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss and determine which element of digital accessibility is most important to them and their work.
