At one point or another, most of us will have a disability, even if it is just a temporary one or one that comes about as a normal part of aging. Fortunately, we all carry about with us a device that comes with a suite of free assistive technologies that can help us maintain our independence in spite of this. Our smartphones have functionality built into them that provides screen magnification, text-to-speech, voice recognition, contrast enhancement, live captioning, and sound amplification, among other things. In this workshop, we’ll explore these tools, so you’ll know what is possible when you inevitably encounter life circumstances that would ordinarily make it difficult or impossible to do the things you need to do
