Description:
These mini trainings will be quick and impactful lessons to build awareness around Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA). Each session is exactly 10-minutes in length and the series builds accessibility expertise step-by-step, starting with the fundamentals and moving into specific interactive components. It begins by explaining what ARIA is, why it exists, and how it enhances custom component accessibility, then helps participants decide when to use ARIA versus native HTML. From there, sessions tackle practical applications, including making buttons and links accessible, creating screen reader–friendly accordions, and implementing robust tab systems. Attendees will also learn to build accessible dialogs, button-triggered menus, and data tables that support sorting, filtering, and responsive layouts without breaking semantics. Each brief session emphasizes best practices, common pitfalls, and the interplay between ARIA roles, attributes, and assistive technologies, ensuring developers and designers leave with actionable strategies for building inclusive, standards-compliant interfaces.
