Session Info: Online education offers new opportunities for reaching learners where they are, making learning more accessible to those who are not able to engage in traditional, campus-based experiences. In addition to increasing access, online education affords pedagogical innovations by leveraging the features of virtual learning environments to engage learners in meaningful and creative ways. Join Dr. Barbara Lockee, professor of instructional design and technology, to discuss research-based strategies for online course design and program implementation. Barbara and her colleagues have over two decades of experience in offering online graduate programming at VT, with content that includes distance and online learning design and development. This interactive session will explore lessons learned and provide open discussion of the opportunities, issues, and challenges of teaching online from the faculty perspective.
