Description:

Virginia Tech students present their experiences at the 2026 Emerging Creatives in East Lansing, MI, hosted by Michigan Tech and co-sponsored by a2ru and ICAT. This year’s theme is “Rewilding: New Stories of Collective Wellbeing.” Rewilding is a form of ecological restoration that asks us to reimagine–or, in some sense, rewind–the relationship between natural processes and human interventions into those processes, a relationship that has been fraught with conflict for centuries. In this three-day collaborative experience, students form cross-disciplinary teams to investigate how human and natural systems can be reimagined toward more sustainable and just futures. Teams create imaginative projects ranging from digital media to physical artifacts, while participating in field trips, micro-workshops, and discussions with interdisciplinary thinkers. Students strengthen collaboration, communication, and creative inquiry skills while sharing their work with peers and experts.
