Description:
Hospital teachers are specialized teachers in the hospital that provide instruction to children in grades K-12. Before the popularity of generative AI, these teachers would develop custom accessible lesson plans for the diversity of students admitted into the hospital. Developing engaging lessons for the diversity of students in the hospital setting can become onerous in this stressful career. With the onset of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, education can be reimagined to support these teachers in creating custom lesson plans using generative AI technology. We seek to understand and develop AI tools to support hospital teachers in the development of K-12 lesson plans. Using our expertise in human- computer interaction and community-engaged research practices, our goal is to mock-up AI tools that would be helpful for hospital teachers.
