Description:

The Frimpong lab from the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation and their collaborators from the School of Visual Arts, the School of Performing Arts, Department of Biological Systems Engineering, and the Perspective Gallery of Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech have spent the last several months connecting the local Blacksburg community with the magnificent freshwater ecosystems of southwest Virginia. The group has focused on using an art-science outreach approach, with numerous events such as "Watercolor Wednesdays" at the Blacksburg Farmers Market, a creative fish nest-building competition, and a 3-day ecotheatre workshop. The culmination of a year's worth of outreach (and a year's worth of community-made art) will be the "Underwater Wonders of Toms Creek" art exhibition on display from March 14th - May 10th in the Perspective Gallery.

Speaker:    Samantha Brooks, Thomas Bustamante, Hiromi Okumura, and Maddie Betts
