Description:
A Walk in the Dark” is an in-progress artwork and browser-based experience exploring the liberatory power of being enshrouded by darkness or fog. Extending from recent work on fog and recent explorations on darkness, this work will use text, imagery, and interaction design to foster a kinship with obfuscation and imagine a turn from the fear of the unknown to the power of the unknown. This work was initialized in Ireland as part of ICAT's ARTx initiative. The initiative creates national and international partnerships to facilitate the development and exchange of creative research and scholarship. In Fall 2024 in partnership with the Centre for Creative Technologies, University of Galway (Galway, Ireland), the TULCA Festival of Visual Arts (Galway, Ireland), and the Burren College of Arts (Ballyvaughan, Ireland), I travelled to Ireland for an artist residency which allowed me to complete the initial stages of this ongoing project.
