Access to a VT network (e.g., on campus or connected to VPN).
Description:
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Open OnDemand, a powerful web-based interface for accessing Virginia Tech’s ARC resources. Attendees will learn how to log in, navigate the Open OnDemand dashboard, manage files, and launch interactive applications on the HPC system, all through a user-friendly web portal.
The session will include live demonstrations and guided exercises covering how to submit and manage jobs, as well as how to run popular research applications such as Jupyter Notebook, Remote desktop, LLM, etc.. Open OnDemand is a friendly interface for users that are new to ARC and HPC computing. It also provides a graphical user interface for applications that otherwise could not be used in a traditional, command line HPC environment.
