Familiar with Unix shell/Terminal environment.
Description:
This workshop is designed for Virginia Tech faculty, researchers, and students who are relatively new to Advanced Research Computing (ARC) resources. Attendees will learn (1) job scheduler basics (Slurm), (2) how to submit jobs on ARC in three different ways (batch mode, interactive/developmental jobs, and through our website portal Open OnDemand), and (3) how billing works on our clusters. This workshop is primarily a guided demonstration with sections where attendees, who have an ARC account, can code along with the instructor if they wish to do so. Workshop material will be provided for those who register and will include additional tips and best practices for using ARC systems that may or may not be covered depending on time.
