Description:
The 'Generative AI for Social Science' guest speaker series at Virginia Tech offers a unique opportunity to explore the impact of generative AI across various disciplines. Open to the entire Virginia Tech community, this series features renowned experts who will discuss innovative applications and ethical considerations surrounding AI technologies. The series begins on October 14 with Dr. Kee Moon Jang from MIT's Senseable City Lab, who will present on the use of generative AI in urban design and planning. Subsequent talks will cover AI's role in education, ethics, local LLMs for qualitative research, and open discussions on generative AI's future. Events will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 PM at the New Classroom Building 130A, providing an engaging space for learning and discussion. This series is organized as part of GEOG 4984/5984: Generative AI Applications for Social Science, led by Dr. Junghwan Kim in the Department of Geography.
