Description:
"Data Carpentry helps researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching data cleaning, management, analysis and visualization
This workshop teaches how to combine R and RStudio with spreadsheets software and OpenRefine to work with real-life data from the international SAFI survey database. There are no pre-requisites, and the materials assume no prior knowledge about the tools. We use a single dataset throughout the workshop to model the data management and analysis workflow that a researcher would use.
The workshop is open to anyone. You do not need any programming experience to participate but you will need access to a Windows, Mac or Linux computer. Instructions for accessing course material and installing software will be sent in advance. For questions, contact Data Education Coordinator Nathaniel Porter (ndporter@vt.edu).
If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please email library-event-accessibility-g@vt.edu at least 10 business days prior to the event."
