VT REDCap Forms and Surveys: Collecting and Protecting Health Research Data

Description:

Learn to leverage VT REDCap to collect sensitive health information, even for complex and longitudinal studies. Virginia Tech has recently invested in expanding access to the REDCap form and survey software, a secure platform with built-in protections for health-related studies. This hands-on workshop provides practice setting up projects, forms, and surveys in VT REDCap, as well as collaboration options, exporting data, and how to find help.
 
Registered participants must complete required security awareness training and sign a VT REDCap user agreement prior to the workshop. You should expect to spend an hour completing these requirements at least 24 hours prior to the workshop. Participants who do not complete these requirements will be unable to access VT REDCap during the workshop.
 
REDCap is only available for health-related projects at this time. If you're unsure of whether your project qualifies for VT REDCap, please contact the VT REDCap support team. . For other research survey needs, Virginia Tech offers QuestionPro at no cost to all affiliates. For survey tool assistance, contact dataservices@vt.edu.

Security Awareness Training is Required
Option 1: Complete CITI Training Security Awareness Modules. Instructions can be found here (scroll down to CITI Security Awareness Training Instructions).The CITI training is available to Virginia Tech students and employees, but employees are encouraged to choose option 2 if you have not already completed the modules. 
Option 2: Complete the "IT Security Awareness Training for New Employees" via the Virginia Tech PageUp System (Virginia Tech PageUp System). This option is only available to VT employees, and it is possible that you have already completed this training. To complete the requirement, please email a screenshot documenting completion date to redcap@vt.edu.
