Description:
Are you diligently tracking (or attempting to track) the impact of your scholarly works? Are you curious about the impact and engagement beyond academic citations? Do you wish to find and assess the public engagement and impact of your work? This session will cover alternative metrics, or altmetrics, which track the engagement and attention to research from a diverse set of online sources, such as news media, public policy, and patents. You will be introduced to Altmetric Explorer and other tools to delve into the conversations around your (or your institution’s) research. This information can help paint a richer picture of the full reach and impact of your research, which can be useful in communicating with others about your research. This interactive training session covers altmetrics basics, essential researcher profiles, and a live demo of tools, plus use cases and best practices to help think about how you can get the most out of altmetrics as a researcher now and in the future.
