Need to create a map? Want that map to be awesome? In this introductory workshop we will explore geospatial data visualization and introduce you to Kepler.gl, “a powerful open source geospatial analysis tool for large-scale data sets.” You can also use it for smaller data sets too, which is what we will be doing by creating maps of our beautiful Blacksburg campus. We provide you with data and the training and then you create the map! We will walk you through using Google maps to grab latitude and longitude points, formatting those points for upload, and learning other functions and features of this powerful and fun geospatial data visualization program. Plus, the data we’ll be giving you will have the coordinates of geocaches around campus. Find the geocache and you might just find some special prizes created in the University Library’s 3D Design Studio!
