Time: 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Location: Torgerson 3310 & Online through Zoom

Instructor: Nathaniel Porter

Presented By: University Libraries (LIB)

Description:

Get a hands-on introduction to qualitative (manual) text coding in individual and team settings from home without labs or expensive specialized software.

Learn the differences between inductive (open, grounded theory) and deductive (theory-driven) coding and practice multiple models of collaborative coding by hand and with Excel or other spreadsheet software.

This is an introductory workshop and it requires no experience with qualitative coding or specific software, but you will need a computer with Microsoft Excel (available to VT users through the software program) to get the most out of it.
