Description:
Innovation and critical technology development are key to U.S. technological leadership and economic security. Virginia Tech is expanding its research collaborations with foreign partners, industry, and the federal government—some of which may involve export or security restrictions.
While most academic research is considered fundamental and exempt from export controls, certain technologies and items may still require government approval or licensing. Conducting these activities, both in the U.S. and abroad, increases the risk of violating federal export laws, which can result in severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
The Office of Export and Secure Research Compliance supports Virginia Tech’s commitment to comply with U.S. laws and regulations applicable to export controls, sanctions, and research security pursuant to University Policy 13045.
This training module provides researchers and senior/key personnel will valuable information regarding export control and sanctions at Virginia Tech.
