Description:

When it comes to analyzing data, it's important to look at many basic descriptors first. JMP is a great tool to use to view basic statistics and graphics for your data.

In this short course, we will cover how to:

• Import a dataset to JMP

• Change variable types in JMP

• Know how to get descriptive statistics like mean, median and variance

•Plot histogram, boxplot, stem-and-leaf plot, normal quantile plot of a variable

• Create various graphs with Graph Builder

• Construct scatterplot and correlation matrices

 No previous coding experience is required! Bring your laptop with JMP installed on your machine, which is available through the Virginia Tech Software Distribution service. If you already have JMP on your laptop, make sure it is the most up to date version.
