This session will focus on incorporating active learning and course engagement to provide students with meaningful learning experiences. The session facilitators will begin with an overview of the foundations of and rational for active and engaged learning as well as a discussion of specific strategies, ranging from lower-stakes activities to larger course projects, for creating and sustaining an active and engaged class. Participants will then break into groups (based on course type) for a guided discussion about creating active and engaged academic experiences for students. By engaging in this session, participants will be able to share their experiences with and/or questions about incorporating active learning and course engagement and to learn from the facilitators and their campus colleagues about ways to create and sustain active learning and engagement in courses.
