Description:

The Course Design Clinic has been developed to provide you with focused support as you are planning for a new course or revising an existing course. During the virtual sessions, you will be guided through several stages of course design with keynote speakers, discussion groups, customized consultations, and our Canvas site. The clinic will also include topics of student engagement, assignment design, assessment, and support for planning for technology.

The Course Design Clinic will be a comprehensive look at backward course design. The event will begin with a full-day session covering the foundational elements of course design and exploring ways to keep student learning at the center of the course design decisions. The additional days will be shorter sessions focused more on assignment design, grading, and technology. In-person and virtual consultations will be available, by appointment, for you to receive customized, one-on-one support.

The schedule will be as follows:

    Wednesday, August 4: 10 am - 4 pm (virtual)

    Thursday, August 5: 9 a.m.* - noon (virtual)

Friday, August 6: 10 am - noon (virtual)

* On Thursday, August 5, we will have a special topic conversation titled, "Working with First-Time, First-Year Students in First-Year Experience or Introductory Courses". This conversation is open to all, but not required. Our clinic activities will resume at 10 a.m., directly following this conversation. The Zoom link will be the same for every session.

Consultations, by appointment, (virtual and in-person) available:

Thursday, August 5, 12:30-2:00 pm

Friday, August 6, 1:00-3:00 pm
