Description:

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is a growing area of research within academia with the goal of highlighting teaching effectiveness and contributing to enhanced learning for students. The application of SoTL is wide-reaching and is critical for the future of teaching and learning in all disciplines. This workshop will take you through the early stages of planning your SoTL agenda by first identifying the value for you, your students, and your discipline. Beyond that, we will explore the development of strong research questions, methods of data collection, and considerations for the IRB. Participants can expect to leave this session with introductory knowledge of the SoTL process, a basic plan to move forward with their own research, and access to additional resources to support the process. This is the first of a two-part series; the second segment is offered in the spring semester.
