Description:

From smartphones to daydreaming, listening obstacles for students in the classroom present significant challenges for instructors seeking to effectively engage students in meaningful learning experiences. This workshop will focus on practical strategies that can help promote active listening in the classroom. Topics to be discussed include 1) the listening process; 2) obstacles to listening; strategies for promoting effective listening skills in the classroom; and 3) using effective delivery, organization, and other presentational strategies to foster active learning during class time. Participants will interact with colleagues to share experiences, challenges, and best practices related to promoting active listening in the classroom.
