Description:
Join us to learn about creating and implementing course projects with a focus on global learning in your on-campus or online course. Workshop facilitators from the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), the Global Education Office (GEO), and Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies (TLOS) will discuss designing course projects that create connections and partnerships with faculty and students from institutions around the globe through using Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). The facilitators will share foundational information about COIL and strategies for implementing it in your course as well as highlight examples of effective COIL projects at Virginia Tech. In addition, the session will highlight potential partners so that participants may begin the partner-matching process to identify global collaborators for COIL projects. Our goal is for attendees to leave the workshop with new knowledge about COIL as well as a draft design plan for a COIL project for one of their courses.
