Description:
Virginia Tech’s university-level Promotion and Tenure guidelines explicitly recognize peer-reviewed open textbooks and other open educational resources (OER) as scholarly and creative contributions. This workshop provides an overview of the recent guideline updates, including where OER appears in dossier templates and what types of evidence may be used to demonstrate impact (e.g., peer review, downloads, citations, and external adoption).
By the end of this workshop,
- Participants will be able to describe what an open educational resource is.
- Participants will be able to describe scenarios in which a faculty member might include creation or adaptation and sharing of an open educational resource on a promotion and/or tenure dossier.
- Participants will have access to a data template whose design may be transferable to other institutions or impact data sources.
