Description:

This workshop introduces the Forms Intelligent Guided Test (IGT), a feature of the axe DevTools Pro browser extension, which evaluates visible and programmatic labels, radio-button and checkbox groups, instructions, required-field indicators, error identification and association, and review or confirmation mechanisms for high-stakes submissions. 

During the workshop, the instructor will use several focused demonstration forms, each designed to illustrate a particular wizard path. Examples include a mislabeled field, an ungrouped set of radio buttons, an error message that is not associated with its field, and a consequential submission that provides no opportunity for review or correction. Participants may use the remaining time to begin the homework assignment: running the Forms IGT on every form on the SaaS Enterprise Billing & Compliance Registration practice page and submitting the saved review within one week. 

An optional brownbag lunch will be offered during the following week for questions and additional support. The answer key will be shared after the submission deadline. The workshop concludes with an exploration of how generative AI tools can help remediate issues identified during the IGT review, followed by a second Forms IGT on the updated page. 

 

Course Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 

1. Run the Forms IGT on a selected form and answer questions about fields, groups, instructions, errors, and review or recovery mechanisms. 

2. Identify failures involving labels, groups, instructions, error associations, and irreversible submissions, and distinguish them from forms that are correctly labeled, grouped, and recoverable. 

3. Save and submit Forms IGT reviews of all forms on the practice page, explore generative AI-assisted remediation of identified issues, and re-test the updated page.
