Description:
Gamification and game-based learning are often used interchangeably, but they represent two distinct approaches to enhancing teaching and learning. In this introductory workshop, participants will explore the key differences between gamification— adding game-like elements such as points, badges, and leaderboards to existing activities—and game-based learning—using actual games or game design principles as instructional tools. Through examples and discussion, participants will discover how each approach can motivate students, foster engagement, and support learning outcomes.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify when and how to apply basic gamification strategies versus game-based learning to create more dynamic and effective learning experiences.
