Description:
This one and one-half day workshop will focus on distance learning course delivery and strategies for teaching distance learning courses via synchronous and asynchronous methods. It is designed to prepare faculty teaching at a distance for the first time and help improve practices for those with some distance teaching experience.
Participants will examine strategies, pedagogy, tools, and best practices for distance learning class management, learning activities, and student interaction. Topics of this workshop include writing clear objectives, structuring your distance learning course, effective communication, student engagement and assessment.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to receive insight and feedback from faculty of varying levels of experience in teaching at a distance and from a variety of disciplines.
Successful completion of this series results in credentialing of faculty as prepared to teach at a distance in compliance with VT Distance Learning Policy #6364.
