Description:
The Course Development Cohort is a comprehensive course spanning 12 weeks beginning with an in person workshop and culminating with a display showcase. The faculty member will come to the cohort process with a specific course in hand. This course may be one previously delivered face–to-face with desires to switch to an online delivery, a current online course which has not yet been credentialed, or a brand-new course with little to no course development completed. Faculty are guided through the process of designing and developing interactive engaging content and assessments for students. Alignment is stressed at each step to ensure everything has a purpose and the course delivers the material the students need as well as allowing the faculty member to personalize the course. This a hands-on course offered through NLI for 12 credits, and participants will be paired with an instructional designer who they will meet with once a week facilitating the work required for completion. All assignments which must be turned in are evidence towards course credentialing and count towards the faculty credentialing as well. The participation, assessment submissions and peer reviews from a participating faculty member provide the quality evidence required to achieve their credentialing. At the end of the 12 week Cohort, the participating faculty member will receive Mastery of Online Instruction Credentialing and the course will go through a comprehensive Quality Assurance leading to it being credentialed for online use.
