Description:
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to shape the landscape of higher education, course design is changing too. In this workshop, educators explore the role of AI in the classroom. Participants will investigate frameworks for integrating AI policies, supporting student literacy, and designing assignments that account for or leverage generative AI tools.
This is a workshop in the 'AI Essentials for Teaching and Learning' pathway. You may take all topics or pick and choose the ones which interest you most—the choice is yours.
0: Introduction to Generative AI (Foundational)
1: AI Literacy for Higher Education (Foundational)
2: AI Prompting: Safety and Strategies (Foundational)
3: Designing AI-Enhanced Teaching Workflows (Foundational)
4: Designing AI-Conscious Courses (Foundational)
To get the most out of 'Designing AI-Conscious Courses,' we strongly encourage participants to have taken:
- Topics 0-2 prior to the session
- And a session on course design fundamentals
Or have an equivalent foundational understanding of how generative AI works, responsible and ethical use of AI, strategies for secure and effective prompting, and the fundamentals of course design.
