Description:
This PDN session is intended for faculty recently hired at Virginia Tech (within the last 12 months). This program will provide an overview of teaching, learning, and computing resources available to all faculty at our institution. A variety of topics will be discussed, including strategies for active learning across the disciplines. You will have the opportunity to interact with your new colleagues and build relationships to help get you started here at VT. In addition, if you are not familiar with our new learning management system, Canvas you will have the opportunity to have your questions answered and/or to learn about new tools available in each.
This session will be comprised of three synchronous sessions, meeting from 9am-12pm on August 17, 18, & 19th. There will also be a good amount of self-paced material that participants can choose from, and open office hours on important topics will be offered from 9am to 4pm on August 20th and 21st. A detailed schedule will be provide before the workshop begins.
